Don’t give up, crowd out instead

Want to know a secret to losing weight and making healthier food choices?

The first thing most people decide to do when eating healthier is to give something up.

Great start! If your why is clear (i.e., your health, the planet, the animals), and your skills and support system strong, you may have all you need to succeed.

But, like many of us, you may find it difficult to stay on track. You may struggle with willpower, your environment, your habits, your social circle, your budget, your kitchen skills, clarity around food choices, and your personal why. Doable, but for some, especially for the long term, this can be the hard way.

What if instead, you could flip the script and eat more, not less, to begin to reach your goals?

Just one caveat.

In the case of a plant-based lifestyle for better health, more is fiber-rich foods, complex carbohydrates and starches.

Add in colorful vegetables (greens especially), a variety of beans and legumes, whole intact grains, starches like sweet potatoes and squashes, mushrooms, fruits, and a small number of nuts/seeds such as flax seeds and walnuts. Prepared in simple ways, with simple ingredients as grown.

By crowding out the rest, the animal and processed foods, the added salt, fat and sugar, the excess high fat toppings and harmful prep like frying that are inflammatory and are making you sick, with these fiber rich foods, low calories and rich in essential nutrients, you will fill you up before you fill out, giving you an added boost to make this lifestyle change for good.
